Life Priorities

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2 inches in diameter.
He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.
The students laughed.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

"Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this is your life"

" T
he rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.

The sand is everything else. The small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Play with your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out dancing.
There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal."

" Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter.
Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand."

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you are treading seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must,
But dont you quit

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many fellow turns about,
When he might have won had he stucked it out
Dont give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the Victory Cup,
And he learned too late when the night came down
How close he was to the Golden Crown

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit
It is when things seem worst

That you must not quit

Be The Best Of Whatever You Are

If you can not be a pine on the top of the hill
Be a scrub in the valley, but
Be the best little scrub by the side of the rill
Be a bush, if you can not be a tree

If you can not be a bush, be a bit of the grass
And some highway happier make
If you can not be a muskie, then just be a bass
But the liveliest bass in the lake

We can not all be captain , we have got to be crew
There is something for all of us here
There is big work to do and there is lesser to do
And the task we must do is the near

If you can not be a highway,
Then just be a trail
If you can not be the sun, be a star
It is not by size that you win or you fail
BE THE BEST OF WHATEVER YOU ARE
